Biography

Tal Shiri is a pianist and piano teacher currently completing his Bachelor of Music at the New Zealand School of Music – Te Kōkī, where he studies under Professor Jian Liu. Alongside his performance career, Tal is passionate about sharing music through supportive and engaging piano lessons tailored to each student’s goals and abilities.
Tal has performed at venues across New Zealand, including The Piano in Christchurch, the Adam Concert Room, and the Hannah Playhouse in Wellington, and has participated in festivals and professional development programmes such as the Akaroa International Music Festival.
With extensive collaborative experience as an accompanist and répétiteur, Tal has worked with NZ Opera and the NZSM Vocal Department, and regularly collaborates with singers and instrumentalists. These experiences have shaped his musical approach, with an emphasis on listening, communication, musicality, and confidence in performance.
Tal teaches students of various ages and levels, focusing on building strong technical foundations while encouraging creativity, expression, and enjoyment of music. His lessons are designed to create a positive and motivating learning environment for both beginners and more advanced students.
He has received several awards and scholarships in recognition of his artistic development, including the Cammick Scholarship (2026).
